Happy Spring everyone! The sun is shining after torrential rains here in Southern California and while I love the rain, I’m so happy to see it - the world feels renewed this morning. So I’d like to get things kicked off with a quote from my 12Listen colleague CA Brooks this morning - she writes the week ahead column in Mark Husson’s Power Peek - she says: ”There is a universe of possibilities for you this year. We are like the great sculptors, faced with a stone from which we can carve a masterpiece following the vision in our mind’s eye. Let courage and compassion be your mantra as you face each day and chip away at your work of art.”
I love that idea and I think that so often when we’re dealing with all we’re faced with in our daily lives that it’s easy to forget that we all hold the power to create the lives we most want to live.
I mentioned this last week and I’ll say it again - there’s a lot of upheaval in the world right now, though we can’t control all of the externals - we can certainly all choose how we respond to these events. I encourage you to donate your resources to relief efforts in Japan - or whatever cause or issue you feel is important. Doing Something - is always the best way for me to feel like I’m not helpless when these things happen. I know that I’m doing what I can in whatever capacity that I can, and it does make a difference.
Life for me seems to have quickened to such a pace that it’s easy to become overwhelmed with just mundane life tasks we all have to get done and I was thinking how great it is to be streamlined - to have just what I need and no more… now if you were here with me, you’d see that’s not at all the state of affairs at chez morgan - however that’s the life I’m creating.
I want to fill my days and my space with things that nourish, nuture and feed my happiness. Which probably means that a good portion of my shoe collection is getting 86ed - because frankly - many of the pairs so gloriously organized in my closet gathering dust are more akin to medieval torture devices than things to put your feet in and walk around in. That’s my goal this spring. Living with only the things I need and love.
What kind life are you creating for yourself?
